Camshafts and lifters are all we do. Here's the work we take in. Pick one to read more.

Regrinding and Remanufacturing

Usually 2–4 weeks

We regrind your worn cam to its original stock profile, or to a custom profile for more power.

  • Flat-tappet cams, hydraulic or mechanical (solid)
  • Roller cams, cast or steel billet, hydraulic or mechanical
  • Everyday, performance, racing and classic engines
More details about Regrinding and remanufacturing

A cam's profile is the shape of its lobes. It decides how far each valve opens (the lift) and how long it stays open (the duration). We can grind your cam back to the factory profile, or grind a performance profile to suit how you use the engine.

Exchange cams: Exchange cams from our shelf carry a core charge. Bring or send us your old cam and we'll credit it back. Call for details.

How long it takes: A regrind usually takes 2–4 weeks. Call to confirm the time for your cam.

If a cam needs more than a regrind, we will repair it when that costs less.

Custom and Copied Grinds

New cams for almost any engine, cams made for your engine, and copies of cams nobody sells anymore.

  • New camshafts for almost any engine
  • Custom grinds picked for how you use the engine
  • A new cam made to match an old one that's no longer made
  • Racing profiles, from Top Alcohol to Super Street
More details about Custom and copied grinds

Tell us about the engine, how you use it, and what you want from it. We will help you pick a profile. If your engine needs a cam designed from scratch, we can do that too. Design work is priced separately.

We have profiles for popular drag race engines, many kinds of circle-track engines, race boats and sand racers.

See the camshaft specifications for the grinds on our spec sheets.

Cam Repair and Welding

Sometimes the best fix is to repair the cam you have. When that costs less, we do it.

  • Lobe welding
  • Bearing journals (the round surfaces the cam turns on)
  • Thrust areas
  • Dowel pins and keyways
More details about Cam repair and welding

We'll tell you if a repair makes sense, or if a regrind or a new cam is the better buy. We look for the fix that costs you the least.

For an example, see how we rebuild Ford Model A cams.

Lifter Resurfacing

We resurface most types of lifters, so the cam and lifters go back in the engine together.

  • Most types of lifters
  • Resurfaced to the right shape for their type
  • Send them in with your cam
More details about Lifter resurfacing

Lifters wear right along with the cam. Each lifter has to be resurfaced to the right shape for its type. On a flat-tappet lifter, for example, the face needs the proper radius.

Keep the lifters in order if you can, and tell us on the request form that they're coming with the cam.

Motorcycle Cams

We grind motorcycle camshafts, vintage bikes included. Call with the year, make and model.

  • Motorcycle cams reground
  • Vintage bikes included

Regrind motorcycle cams. Call us. If we have the profile or can copy it, we can usually grind it.

  • CAT equipment
  • Forklifts
  • Dozers, excavators, wheel loaders, scrapers and graders
  • DitchWitch and Bobcat
  • Locomotive camshafts, reground and rebuilt

We take on select industrial camshaft work, such as CAT equipment. Call to discuss your machine.

We regrind and rebuild locomotive camshafts. Remanufacturing the camshafts as part of a scheduled rebuild is the cost-effective choice. Call to discuss your engine and what it needs.

Locomotive diesels, such as EMD, Alco and F-M (named on our old site).
