What this website records about your visit, why, and how long we keep it. Nothing is sold or shared, and there are no advertising trackers.
No Ad Trackers, No Cookies, Nothing Sold
We keep our own records, on our own server. There is no Google Analytics, no Facebook tracking and no advertising code on this site, and it doesn't use cookies. We don't sell or share what's recorded. We use it to run the business: to see how people find us, which pages help, where our customers are, and to keep the website safe.
What We Record When You Visit
- Which pages you open, how long you stay on each, and how far down you read.
- How you found us: the website or search that sent you, and any campaign tag in the link (like a flyer code).
- The first and last page of your visit.
- Your internet address (IP address), and the rough area and internet provider it belongs to.
- Details your browser openly offers to every website: your system and its version (for example Windows 11 or iOS 26), the type of processor, the phone model on Android phones, and the exact browser versions.
- Your browser's full description (the "user agent"), your screen and window size, and the type of connection (for example wi-fi or mobile), if the browser shares it.
- Whether the phone number, email address or "Get a quote" buttons were used, and how fast the pages loaded.
- Whether the visit looks like a real person or an automatic program (a "bot").
Device ID
Our pages run a small script of our own that works out a device ID: a scrambled code made from your device's settings, such as the screen, browser, graphics card, installed fonts, sound settings, time zone and languages. The same device usually gets the same code each time, so we can tell different computers and phones apart, even when several share one internet connection. For each device ID we keep when it was first and last seen, how many visits, which pages, and the internet addresses and areas it came from.
Along with the device ID we keep the details it's made from and a few more the browser shares: the usable screen area, the download speed it reports, and which common fonts are installed. These help us tell devices apart and spot when one device's ID has changed after a browser update.
The device ID doesn't contain your name, and we don't use it to follow you on other websites. Websites can't read a computer's name, its network card's address (MAC address), hardware serial numbers or the address of your computer inside your home or office network. The ID changes if your browser or device settings change.
How Visitors Are Counted
To count visitors each day, the server also mixes your internet address and browser type with a secret code that changes every day, and keeps only the scrambled result. To see how many people come back, your browser keeps a random number in its own storage on your device (called "local storage"). You can delete it at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.
Our Server's Activity Log
When you open a page, the server also writes a line in its activity log with your internet address, the rough area (city, state or region, country), your internet provider, and whether the visit looks automated. The area is worked out from the internet address alone, using a list kept on our own server. We don't use GPS or your device's location.
How We Work Out the Area
An internet address only shows a rough area, often the place where your internet provider's equipment is, not where you are. To be as fair as possible, we compare several free location lists kept on our own server, show the area as an estimate with how far off it may be (for example "within about 25 km"), and note when the lists disagree. We also compare the time zone your browser reports with the time zone of that area, and check whether the address belongs to a VPN, a data centre, the Tor network or a mobile network, because then the area is less reliable. Nothing is sent to other companies to do this.
Location lists used: IP geolocation by DB-IP (opens in new tab) (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0), IP address data powered by IPLocate.io (opens in new tab) (Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0), ip66 (opens in new tab) (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0), place names from GeoNames (opens in new tab) (Creative Commons Attribution 4.0), and the Tor Project's public list of Tor exit addresses.
Our Own Admin Area
When someone at the shop signs in to the website's admin area, we record the sign-in and every action taken there (for example emails sent, quote requests changed, pages edited, settings changed, downloads and deletions), with the time, the device ID, the internet address, the rough area and the browser. This keeps the admin area secure.
Shop staff can also choose to save the exact location of one of the shop's own computers or tablets, by pressing a button in the admin area and allowing it in the browser. This is only offered inside the admin area. Visitors to this website are never asked for their location.
If You'd Rather Not Be Tracked
If your browser has "Do Not Track" or "Global Privacy Control" turned on, your visit isn't counted in our visit statistics and the script doesn't work out a device ID. The server's activity log still notes each page that is opened, as nearly every website does.
How Long We Keep It
- The activity log and the page-by-page visit details: 30 days, then deleted automatically.
- Visit statistics, area totals and device records: 13 months at most. After that, only daily totals (like "40 visitors on Tuesday") are kept.
- Records of admin sign-ins and actions: 13 months.
Quote Requests and Messages
When you send a quote request, an email or a message, what you send goes to the shop so we can answer you. We keep it so we can look up your job later. We don't sell it or share it.
When you email us, the shop may add private notes and labels to your email (for example who is handling it, or a reminder date) so nothing is missed. If you ask us to stop emailing you, or a sender keeps sending unwanted mail, we keep that email address on a short list so the mail is sorted aside. These notes are only seen by the shop.
